I ran track one year in middle school.
One.
I was terrible at it!
I came in last place pretty much every time until I accidentally learned a little trick.
One day I had to pee. Badly. But I didn’t have time to go before the mile race. So I ran.
The first 3 laps I struggled along as normal. (My goal was to make sure the person in front didn’t lap me! I wish I was kidding!)
But that 4th lap, I had to pee so badly I ran like the wind. (Ok, more like a breeze…Close enough.)
I ran so fast I didn’t come in last place for once…I came in 3rd to last! I know, this would be disappointing to some. But not to me. I was kind of a champion at that moment! I didn’t even stop at the end…I ran all the way to the bathroom!!
This became my new routine. Drink a lot, hold it, and keep your eyes on the prize…the bathroom!
I don’t think I ever came in last again!! (I also never placed! I really was bad!)
Why am I telling such an embarrassing story? (I should really keep these things to myself.)
Here’s why…
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement…”Romans 15:5
This got me tonight.
HEs the GOD who gives endurance and encouragement.
HEs the GOD that helps you run your race.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when your tired.
Even when you feel like you lose every single time.
Know this….HEs restoring your strength.
HEs renewing your hope.
HEs resurrecting your faith.
You’re not just going to finish.(You’re not even just going to get 3rd to last! )
HEs going to give you the endurance and encouragement you need to do everything HE has called you to do!
You can do this! This last leg of your race is going to be your best yet! Keep your eyes on the prize!
